Where did Commodore Matthew Perry set sail from in America when he went to Japan with four black ships?

I am studying the black ships in history at school and we have to say where he set sail from, where he landed in Japan and why he went there. I know he set sail from America, but i do not know exactly where…
Any help would be appreciated!

In 1852, Perry embarked from Norfolk, Virginia for Japan, in command of a squadron in search of a Japanese trade treaty. Aboard a black-hulled steam frigate, he ported Mississippi, Plymouth, Saratoga, and Susquehanna at Uraga Harbor near Edo (modern Tokyo) on July 8, 1853.
